GTECH Signs Deal with Trinidad and Tobago Lotteries
WEST GREENWICH, Rhode Island -– (PRESS RELEASE) -- GTECH Corporation, a
wholly-owned subsidiary of Lottomatica S.p.A., announced it has signed a
five-year contract extension with the National Lotteries Control Board of
Trinidad and Tobago (NLCB) to provide new online lottery products and
services through September 5, 2011. GTECH expects to receive approximately
$78 million in revenue over the five-year extension term.
"GTECH and the NLCB have been partners in establishing a successful
lottery enterprise," said W. Bruce Turner, GTECH President & CEO and
Lottomatica S.p.A. CEO. "By providing the NLCB with GTECH's latest offering
of products, we are enabling them to expand their retailer base and operate
more effectively, which in turn, enhances their ability to maximize funds
for good causes."
Under the terms of the extension, GTECH will provide the NLCB with
approximately 800 Altura(R) terminals and 400 handheld lottery terminals.
These machines will replace existing terminals and will be placed in new
retailer locations. GTECH will also provide the NLCB with 250 multi-media
keno monitors and 400 Express Point Plus(TM) terminals. GTECH will continue
to offer a full range of support services including central system
maintenance; terminal installation and maintenance; communications
management; field service; and marketing support. The Company will also
continue managing the distribution, accounting, and validation of the
Lottery's instant ticket business.
In addition to lottery services, GTECH also provides prepaid mobile
phone top-up and bill payment services over its lottery terminals in
Trinidad and Tobago.
The NLCB of Trinidad and Tobago was established in 1968 to create a
lottery for the twin-island state. The Lottery has been a valued GTECH
customer since 1994, when the Company replaced the existing offline lottery
system with an online lottery system. Proceeds from the NLCB go toward
education, health, and social welfare, among other things.
