Only A Few Minor Online Gambling Ads Violate UK Codes
Advertising gambling in the UK has many rules and regulations that must be followed by companies. According to a new report, most companies are in accordance with those rules.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has conducted a compliance survey. They have found that out of fifty six television ads for
, only six did not comply with the UK's advertising code.
The number looks particularly low considering the amount of change the online industry has gone through regarding advertising. The rules are trying to be followed by all, but it will take some time before the entire industry can get a grip on what is, and what is not, allowed by law.
As the code becomes more clear, the low number of ads that are not in compliance, will most likely disappear. The majority of the ad violations were due to their ads being misconstrued as appealing to children.
The ASA spent most of their time on this survey between September 1st and October 31st. They monitored 784 advertisements ranging from the Internet, posters, direct mail, press, radio, and television. They foundd only six television commercials out of compliance. In all, they checked on over 784 ads.
Only one violation was found out of 344 advertisements for online poker or online casinos.
